Jewish Future Pledge Announces New Partnership with Jewish Federations of North America

We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA).  We are excited to work together to advance our shared vision and commitment to secure a vibrant Jewish future, spark critical intergenerational conversations about Jewish values, and work together on proliferating a culture of legacy giving.

The partnership comes at a critical time for the Jewish community as two seismic forces are converging at the same time. The social and economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has left the Jewish community more uncertain about its future than ever before and comes during the largest transfer of wealth in history.

“The ripple effect of gifts secured decades ago is being felt in a profound way as this crisis unfolds. Legacy gifts made today will have the ability to secure our community well into the future. That is why we are excited about partnering with the Jewish Future Pledge.”

- JFNA’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mark Wilf

This new collaboration will engage ten Jewish Federations across North America in a two-year pilot program and enhance the reach and impact of JFNA’s national affinity programs.

We are honored to participate in a panel session at the upcoming JFNA General Assembly next Tuesday, October 26, 2020 from 11:00am-12:30pm ET– Power of Legacy: Planned Giving’s Role in Mobilizing Crisis Response and Securing the Future.

• Mike Leven, Co-Founder, Jewish Future Pledge
Mark Silberman, Board Chair, Jewish Future Pledge

Pledger Spotlight Q&A
with Julie Platt

Julie Platt, Jewish Future Pledge Board Member

1. Why did you sign the Jewish Future Pledge, and why do you think it’s important for others to sign?
I signed to show my commitment to securing the resources our community will need to create a vibrant Jewish future for those to come. I think we all share the responsibility to ensure that the Jewish people continue to thrive. The more of us that sign, the louder that message will reverberate.

2. What do you think that Jewish philanthropy can teach the rest of the world?
The Jewish tradition has brought to the world an ethical framework that lifts up the value of every human life. I think that our philanthropy can bring life to that tradition of humanity’s responsibility to care for each other.

3. What is one Jewish value you carry with you in your daily life?
Kol Yisrael Arevim Zeh Ba Zeh All of Israel is responsible for one another.

4. What kinds of conversations have you had with your children about the importance of Jewish giving and engaging with the Jewish community?
Each one of my children is passionate about Jewish philanthropy. We talk about giving and engaging in ways that are personally meaningful. I used to feel guilty about leaving my young family in the evenings to do Jewish communal work.  Often my oldest daughter would stay home to babysit - one day she remarked to me, “Don’t worry, Mom! You go take care of the Jews out there, and I’ll take care of the Jews in here.” Talking to our children about the Jewish future feels hopeful and meaningful.
